Task Force Created to Reduce Childhood Lead Exposure

On February 15, Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta joined Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt and fellow Cabinet members to outline a federal strategy to reduce childhood lead exposure and associated health risks. “Children perform better at school and in life if they live in a healthy home,” said  Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson. “Far too many Americans are exposed to lead in their workplace,” said Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. “Finding solutions to better protect these workers and minimize the amount of lead that is taken home, and potentially exposed to their children, is a priority.” Do you know the most common jobs with lead exposure? • Painting • Building renovation • Radiator repair • Bridge work • Shooting range work • Demolition • Battery manufacturing • Metal production • Metal scrap cutting and recycling • Ceramic work • Soldering • Plumbing   Click here to see OSHA’s resource that […]

Philips Defibrillator Recall

Phillips is issuing a recall notification due to awareness of isolated failures with one of the device’s electrical components (a resistor). The recall is for the Philips HeartStart FRx, HeartStart OnSite, and HeartStart home defibrillators (AED’s) manufactured between 2002 and 2013. Click here to read the statement put out by the FDA.

Safety Notice for MSA Gravity Welder Harness

MSA has issued a Safety Notice regarding their Gravity Welder Harness. MSA has determined that the leg strap and chest wrap used in this harness incompatible. Although the harness can be donned, in the event of a fall, the shoulder straps may extend and affect the protection offered by the harness. From the notice: MSA is advising all MSA Gravity Welder Harness customers to immediately stop use of affected MSA Gravity Welder Harnesses produced from July 2015 through and including January 2018. The harnesses are to be removed from service, marked “UNUSABLE” and destroyed. Affected MSA Gravity Welder Harnesses are those marked with one of the following part numbers and a manufacturing date from July 2015 to January 2018:  10151154  10158954  10158956  10158957 For the full Safety Notice, click here.
