Rodent feces can carry dozens of different bacteria. Exposure to this bacteria can cause serious long-term health effects when handled or inhaled. One of the more well-known diseases that can be caused from exposure to rodent feces is “Hantavirus”. Hantavirus is so dangerous that it has a 36% mortality rate!
In May, one of our clients accessed a drop ceiling to run some wiring through the space. When they climbed the ladder and looked around, they noticed rat feces all throughout the space. Since they knew how dangerous rat feces can be, they immediately stopped work and called their Supervisor. The client was asked to have the space safely cleaned and tested before our client returned to work.
